Thatcher-Young Mansion

Driving around Logan, Utah, I ran across this old home which had been remodeled and is used for parties and such. There was a nice little outside reception area to the east of this building with plenty of tables and chairs just waiting for the event to commence.

I am not sure what this piece of artwork represented but it was on the same property.

Unique Fence

While visiting Logan, Utah, I took time to see the Logan Temple.  It is completely surrounded by this very unique fence. The original fence was a white picket fence but sometime after 1910 an iron fence was made and placed there. It lasted until 1979 when the new curved top fence was installed.
Looking southeast.

 Part of the entrance.
Front entrance to the temple on the east side.

Part of the east side of the Logan Temple.

Looking east on the temple grounds.

Bear Lake

Bear Lake is the 2nd largest lake in Utah but also shares the lake with Idaho. My brother and his family came over from Portland for a family reunion of the Heath family so I drove north and into the Logan mountains to see them.

This was taken looking East at the top of the ridge before going down to Garden City, Utah. I caught a hummingbird having lunch. Apparently, a fur trapper discovered this lake in 1819. The lake is 18 miles long and over 7 miles wide.

Another view from the top of the ridge.

Taken from a wonderful Bed and Breakfast called the Bluebird Inn on the Idaho side, still looking east. There was a pond in front of the B&B with water lillies.

Trying to get views of the lake through the pines.

This was garden area at that B&B in Idaho.

Best view of Bear Lake from the Utah side where my brother was staying.

Logan, Utah

Spent a couple of days in Logan, Utah. It's about a 2 hour drive north of where I live.

Tried a frozen hot chocolate which really reminded me of a chocolate ice cream milkshake at a Kneaders. Found this great shot in their windows. Logan used to be this tiny little place but wow, has it ever grown!
